FishHants Reviews page
Here
I will give an unbiased review to any Hampshire coarse fishing stillwater that
I have been to. Obviously, there are hundreds of waters that I will have missed
out, but if you have a decent review you would like me to post, email it to
me at the address below and I will post it, credited with your name.

Reviews:
- Petersfield Lake (Heath
Lake)
- Petersfield is one
of the most attractive waters I have fished. It is basically a large sand
bowl, but is situated on Petersfield Heath. Petersfield itself is also
very nice. The lake holds a good head of big carp, with the Lake Record
now over 40lb (although this has recently died), as well as a good stock
of fair sized bream (up to 6lb). During the summer months it is used during
the day by canoeists and boaters, but these cause relatively little problems
as they stay in the unreachable centre of the Lake. Corn and boilies seem
to work best, although anyone who has fished it has their own favourite
method. You must join the club (see locations
for the web address) to fish at night, but the general public can fish
in the day for between 5 and 6 quid. Petersfield is by far and away my
favourite water. The fish, location, lake size and swims are all just
how I like them! A water where any sort of fish is a satisfying result.
- Gold Valley Lakes
- Bungalow Lake-Costs
about £15 a day and will always make for a good days fishing. You
are unlikely to leave with less then 5 fish, and some luncheon meat or
boilies will definitely produce some nice sized fish. The fish are actually
quite easy to catch, so the satisfaction of a fish is not as good as other
waters, but the fish fight well, and after all, a carp is a carp. There
are a few twenties around, but average stocks somewhere between 5 and
12lbs. An enjoyable and well run fishery with an excellent tackle shop.
- Main lake-Luncheon
meat is the way to go on this lake, loads of carp around the 10 lb mark,
bit of loose feed in the margins will have all the carp coming your way.
Great place to take a newbie to the sport as guaranteed satisfaction.
Float fishing offers some very exciting sport due to the large number
of fish=there is never a dull moment. Fishing close to the islands if
you wish to ledger also produces many fish, but watch out for the snags!
- Greenridge Farm lake
- Greenridge is a very
well maintained and attractive fishery with plenty to fish to - there
are a number of reed beds, a bridge and an island. The lake is stocked
with carp (up to 28lb), tench, roach, rudd and perch, all of which are
in very good condition. It cots £12 to fish for a night, and is
well worth it. It is a pleasant place to fish, attended by very friendly
staff, with a convenient hut with kettle/microwave for angler's use, with
some very good fishing. Luncheon meat is one of the most prolific baits,
with some surface action to be found also.
- Timsbury Manor Carp
Lakes
- Timsbury Manor has
two very nice carp lakes (the one closest to the car park is nicest).
Lake record is supposed to be a shade over 20lb. It is certainly well
stocked with 3-6lb fish, with the odd bigger one to be found. Any bait
seems to work well (boilies and luncheon meat banned), and its tranquil
setting makes for a nice day out. Lots of fish to be caught and some good
surface action. Just under a fiver for a day as well - bargain!
- Broadlands Fishery
- Main lake, 25 acre
lake with many features to fish to, islands get lots of pressure but do
produce lots of fish. Worth spending some time with marker float finding
patches of gravel and silt depending which part of the lake you are fishing.
2 rods for the day is £8 and £15.50 for 24 hours. Carp to 35 lbs and Pike
to 39 lbs. Use lots of loose feed to attract the carp to the area, most
standard boiles work well.
- Willow Park Fishery
- Small Lake, very
easy little lake, pellets in the margins or a few metres out in front
of you will produce fish, lots of carp from 3 lbs to 8 lbs with a few
teens and a couple nearing 20. Bream and tench and also easy to catch
if you feed a swim little and often. Maggots and casters tend to get the
smaller fish. Great sport! Great lake to get a bend in the rod! £10 a
day for 1 rod, £15 for 2
- Yately Lake Complex
- South Lake-large
lake with lots of features, weedy in the summer so advised to go out with
a marker float to find some clear spots. Very peaceful lake, some great
fish. Fish come from all over the lake, some large tench to be caught.
One of the top day ticket waters in the south!
- Split lake-Carp,
catfish, tench, pike, bream, very big lake, the swims in the middle are
a good choice when windy, as they provide shelter. Lots of weed in the
summer months so having a search with a marker float is recommended to
save getting snagged up. Need to join the complex to be able to fish the
lake, starts at £40 for juniors and £80 for over 18’s.
